  • Teenager buys Autobiography for Fun

    Teenager buys Autobiography for fun
If you were expecting some sort of joke, I'm sorry but you were sadly mistaken
Let's see, so about two days ago I went out and rode my bike for about five miles to go to Barnes and Noble to get
My Booky Wook by Russell Brand and Volumes 7 and 8 of Loveless. Oh, and the five miles was strictly one way. Which, actually didn't take
that much time... I guess working out has it's benefits. Anyways, I arrived at the bookstore after missing my turn went inside and picked up the three books in breakneck speed. ([Q:] How could you miss your turn? You were on a Frickin bike! [A:] I'm an idiot and rode my bike two extra blocks thinking it was just a little bit further. In my defense at this point I was driving through a parking lot.)
After this I lingered around the mall area, bought some rings and a pair of purple skinny jeans that were %50 off tag price. Not too terribly important or interesting.
However, after these aforementioned dismal events I rode my bike home with the spirit of Jesse Owens (He was being chased by the spirit of a Nazi so I lent him a lift on my bike)
When i had somehow managed to make it home in a decent time frame, I immediately shimmied down to my undershirt/tank top (It is Phoenix, people) sat on my bed with my cat and began to read My Booky Wook.
I loved that book(y wook). There were times when it was obscenely funny and times that were extremely intense and hit a little too close to home. The book made me laugh, want to cry, and feel like an idiot.
All I can say is that Mr. Brand has a mastery of the English language that I can only dream of. I kept having to pause for moments and find the nearest paper and sharpie to write down the words he had used.
He is a brave man for letting the world know of his sordid past. I felt some sort of kindred connection to this man through his work. I guess that's because I realize that like him I am a very destructive and addictive personality whose only means of saving myself at times is my own ego and aspirations. What can I say? I'm a Slytherin at heart hanging down with the have-not's of the world.
In the end, the book gave me hope. It showed me that even though the world can be a bitch you can't let it bring you down all the time. Sometimes you need to do things for the story, and if they don't work out you just need to dust yourself off and laugh it off.
Thank you Mister Brand, my respect for you as a person as well as a comedian has increased a thousand fold. Thank you for publishing this book so that this teenager may read it for her leisure.
