  • The Lure of Bloodshed.

I know this may sound crazy, but I've always been able to empathize with some murderers.
Now before the worried mothers of America show up at my house trying to protect their babies who are in the public education system (a very laughable cause), I would like to refine my claim.

Their is a certain beauty in killing someone, but a very macabre and taboo beauty at best. It is something that could seduce even the most unlikely of people if the opportunity arrived. Look at Hitler, he was an artist and a vegetarian. (As a funny little side note it lists on his Wikipedia article that his occupation was a politician and an artist) The main thing about even hurting some one is that it is a show of power. In a kill-or-be-killed situation one person will come out as the victor. They will come out as the more powerful because they won. In reality, it is the ultimate show of power. It is sticking the middle finger to God and all of creation by saying that you have successfully destroyed what they have created in one fell swoop. It is also a deadly seduction. What is to say that you won't stop from killing another now that you successfully done it once? This is why I empathize with those who have killed. I can't feel angry at someone. I feel sorry for them. They have fallen to the lure of the bloodshed. They've fallen to corruption.

I guess in the end this is the sort of thing that differentiates us from the rest of the animal kingdom. We will sometimes kill for the sport and not just to survive. We kill for the thrill, and we know we shouldn't. I'll admit I've done it, but only in the fictional world with creations from my imagination. It's my own little ego boost in a way.

Cheers, and I hope you don't think I'm completely nutters.
